Virginia Tech vs. Purdue Predictions

Both teams are coming off tough losses. Virginia Tech got overpowered by UNLV in Anaheim and the Purdue was downed by Richmond.

With the mighty Boilermakers coming to down as the 22nd ranked team in the country, the Hokies are looking for a big win for their résumé.
Tech is going to need the big men to step up, which means Jeff Allen staying out of foul trouble. We all know Matt Painter is going to calling plays for JaJuan Johnson in the post. If Allen, Victor Davila and Cadarian Raines can play smart, the Hokies should take this one at home.

For VT, Dorenzo Hudson will need to get to the hoop and to the line, instead of going baseline every time he has the ball. If he can get some open shots off screens, and if Allen and Delaney play their game, the Hokies will win it. But, it is as a big if.

In the end, Terrell Bell steps up again.

The Hokies will welcome 22nd ranked Purdue into Cassell Coliseum tonight for the ACC/Big Ten Challenge.

Both teams are coming into the game having lost their last, Purdue lost in the championship game of the Chicago Invitational to Richmond Saturday night, while Virginia Tech lost in the final of the 76 Classic in Anaheim 71-59 to UNLV. Each team is coming in having struggled in many aspects of the game, Purdue only shot 30 percent from the field in it's loss to Richmond after shooting nearly 50 percent it's first four games.

The Hokies shot a good percentage from the field against UNLV but only managed a dismal 42.9 percent from the charity stripe to go along with 18 turnovers commited.

The Boilermakers are led by senior E'Twaun Moore who enters the game averaging 20.8 points per game and just under seven rebounds. JuJuan Johnson is a solid complement for Moore as he enters tonights game averaging 16.5 points per game and a team leading 8.8 rebounds.

The Hokies are led by their do everything man Malcolm Delaney. The senior enters the game averaging 21.3 points per game to go along with 3.8 assists.

If Purdue can come out of the gates strong and control the enviornment, they should come out on top with the victory in a close game.
